BookScouter was mentioned today on the MSN Personal Finance Site. The BookScouter mention was on tip 5 and related to de-cluttering your home and selling your used books back online. Welcome to you new visitors! We hope that you’re able to reduce some clutter around your home and make some money while doing so.
Last week I was able to take place in a 30-minute radio interview for the “Ask Janelle” show on wsRadio.com. We talked about some of the basic BookScouter usage and how eBay and Amazon book sellers can use it to sell some of their books. We also talked about some of the “Pro” features suited toward larger users. You can listen to the show over at wsRadio.com . The individual MP3 segments for each part of the show are available Here and here. I first met Janelle at the Amazon Sellers Conference (SCOE) in Seattle in July. She is a popular and well respected radio host and runs a bunch of classes and training programs to help sellers optimize their online sales through eBay, Amazon, and on the Internet in general. She is also behind the OSI Rock Stars program and training material.
I just learned that BookScouter has been mentioned in the March 2011 issue of Consumer Report Magazine. The full article is titled “How To Get Rid of Practically Anything”! There are a few paragraphs about getting rid of old books where it mentions that BookScouter compares prices from dozens of book-buying sites.
The site had a bit of a jump in traffic over the last two days. I’ve had one email from somebody that noted learning about it on a television spot, so that seems to have been the cause. The extra traffic has caused a little bit of slowness on the site, but not anything too severe.
That is also the first mention of BookScouter on a television program that I’m aware of, so I’d be interested if anybody could provide any details, including what channel and market it was in, or a way to view it online.
